Item May 6, 2008: Bev Vincent's online News From the Dead Zone column has been updated and includes information on C-SPAN 2's Writing Discussion with Stephen, Tabitha, and Owen King, where King read from the first pages of the book he is currently working on, which sounds like a re-imagining of a failed novel from the 1980s called The Cannibals at one time and Under the Dome at another; King on the NPR program Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me yesterday; and more news on the adaptation of "Dolan's Cadillac".

Stephen King: A Primary Bibliography of the World's Most Popular Author
In-Stock & Shipping Now!

Plus TWO FREE Bonus UPDATE Chapbooks With 96 Pages of Additional Material!

SK BiblioStephen King: A Primary Bibliography of the World's Most Popular Author
by Justin Brooks

Weighing in at over 560 pages, Stephen King: A Primary Bibliography of the World's Most Popular Author is by far the most comprehensive Stephen King Bibliography ever produced, with 958 separate entries, each with a short description and full source data, from publication information right down to page numbers!

Author Justin Brooks spent five years compiling this outstanding reference work, with the assistance of many of the leading King researchers, collectors and 'super-collectors'. Covering all King's published and known unpublished works (and, for a VERY limited time only while supplies last, supplemented with two FREE chapbooks for material published since the book was sent to the printer--read on for details!) this volume reveals for the first time dozens of works and appearances previously unknown to King researchers.

Every known English language appearance of the nearly one thousand pieces of fiction and non-fiction (along with screenplays, plays, poems and even recipes and puzzles) are listed, some 100 of which were also previously unknown in the King community.

Working from original sources Brooks has identified and corrected numerous errors in the previous reporting of material--incorrect titles, dates, pagination and even publication information.

If you've ever wanted to build your King collection to ensure you have every piece it is possible to collect, in all their forms, this is the reference work you must have.

Introduced by noted King researcher Rocky Wood, author of Stephen King: Uncollected, Unpublished, the book also carries a comprehensive Index of titles and alternative titles.

Among new revelations in the book are:
• Two previously unknown King pieces from his high school days--sports reporting in the Lisbon Enterprise (and these are not the articles King describes in On Writing)

• The "Why I Love The Beatles Essay" that won King an award

• King's 1966 Batman and Robin script

• A 1967 column supporting the US troops in Vietnam

• A letter 14 year old King wrote to Forrest J Ackerman, published in a 1987 auction catalog

• Previously unknown articles and letters to the editor from The Maine Campus, including a review of the Spring 1969 issue of Ubris

• A large number of previously unknown letters to the editor

• Obscure appearances of pieces such as "Brooklyn August"

• Introductions to the work of other authors; and book reviews published in unusual venues

• Reprints of both fiction and non-fiction in obscure newspapers and magazines, including in the UK, Canada and Australia

• Original titles of published works

• Comprehensive details of King's non-fiction in the Bangor Daily News and other Maine newspaper, much of it controversial

• Dates and publications of 'lost' pieces such as the reprint of a King's Garbage Truck in a downstate newspaper; and such unusual venues as Chernobog

Bonus UPDATE Chapbooks
96 Pages of Additional Material While Supplies Last!

Justin Brooks provided even more recently published material to supplement Stephen King: A Primary Bibliography of the World's Most Popular Author after the book's interior text had to be set for the printer. We secretly printed these chapbooks exclusively for our customers who preordered the book directly from us, but a few copies are still available and we'll add them to your order for free while supplies last! We don't have all that many extras, and we're certain they won't last more than a week, probably a lot less than that. Weighing in at a total of 96 pages, these Update Chapbooks are must-have items for King collectors, so this is definitely the time to place your order! These won't last long and they're only available from Cemetery Dance!

Production Update:
King, Gaiman, Golden, Keene, Wilson, Sarrantonio, Burke, Laymon, Clegg, and Lee

Secretary of DreamsToday we have great news for fans of Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, Christopher Golden, Brian Keene, F. Paul Wilson, Al Sarrantonio, Kealan Patrick Burke, Richard Laymon, Douglas Clegg, and Edward Lee.

First up: Glenn Chadbourne recently made a top secret trip from his native Maine to the Cemetery Dance offices in Maryland to deliver the very last of the interior artwork for The Secretary of Dreams (Volume Two) by Stephen King. This artwork all has to be scanned, but as soon as digital files are prepared, we're ready to rush this title right into production. In addition, later this month we'll be sending some exclusive Sneak Peeks out to customers who have preordered this title. Watch your in-box for details!

In other news, we've received the exclusive Michael Zulli Interview for our special edition of Prince of Stories: The Many Worlds of Neil Gaiman. In addition, we're pleased to announce that Stephen R. Bissette will be creating the cover artwork and a series of exclusive interior illustrations that will not appear in any other edition. He's working on all of that artwork as we speak.

Turtle BoyThe printer reports that Stephen King: The Non-Fiction and The Dark Tower Concordance are right on track for a summer publication date. These books are going to be huge -- over 600 and 800 pages -- and they're going to make a great addition to your collection!

We've received the amazing Alan Clark cover artwork for The Turtle Boy: Peregrine's Tale by Kealan Patrick Burke, along with the last of the interiors. This title is now headed to our designer.

Sims 5 by F. Paul Wilson and Halloween and Other Seasons by Al Sarrantonio have been sent to the printer. We'll post expected publication dates as soon as receive the schedule from the printer.

Woods Are DarkKill Whitey by Brian Keene has received a terrific review from Fangoria:
"One of the best things about this book is that Larry is not one of those ultracompetent comic-book characters who have populated these stories of late. He's all too human, and shows a vast capacity for bad judgment... Keene also scores major points for effectively keeping the reader in the dark for most of the book concerning Whitey's nature; for two-thirds, you're not sure if his abilities are real or just good PR... It's the sort of book you can spend a long trip with and come away from feeling thoroughly satisfied."

The Woods Are Dark is moving along nicely at the printer and selling very well. Here are those two fantastic blurbs Kelly mentions in her introduction:
"The Woods Are Dark plunges forward like a Tobe Hooper film based on a scenario by Charles Manson. Gruesome, frenetic, blood-curdling."
— Dean Koontz

"The Woods Are Dark is a roller-coaster ride through hell. More disgusting than The Cellar."
— Gary Brandner

GRAVE TALES 7We've posted the cover artwork for Grave Tales #7, which will be headed to the printer this summer. #5 is deep in production there already, and #6 has just started on the pre-press process. There will be a lot of great Grave Tales news to come this year.

British InvasionBritish Invasion has received several terrific reviews already and the preorders are strong:
"From Gord Rollo's transcendentally eerie tale of a comatose young boy's revenge ("Lost in a Field of Paper Flowers") to Mark Morris's cautionary tale about a pair of unorthodox vampires ("Puppies for Sale"), the 21 original stories in this anthology establish the strength of British horror writers. Contributors include Ramsey Campbell, Sarah Pinborough, Conrad Williams, Peter Crowther, and other veterans and new authors. A strong collection of contemporary horror from across the pond..."
Library Journal

"...the 21 stories they've selected prove that contemporary U.K. writers are infiltrating American publishing markets with some of the most provocative horror fiction written today. Refreshingly devoid of genre clichés, these subtle tales offer ambiguously supernatural horrors from the dramas and traumas of everyday life... their authors are exceptionally articulate in the universal language of horror."
Publishers Weekly

All of the materials for The Number 121 to Pennsylvania and Others by Kealan Patrick Burke has been approved at the printer and we expect to see our first finished copies in about a month. In the meantime, Kealan's massive new collection is receiving some terrific reviews, like this one from Rue Morgue:
"Each tale grabs you within the first few sentences and never lets go, resulting in a collection guaranteed to take you on one of the scariest rides of your life."

In Laymon's TermsAlthough we're waiting on a couple more things from the editors and a few more remembrances, we can now tell you that In Laymon's Terms came in at over 175,000 words long, which means this book is going to be HUGE! The signature sheets are still circulating among the THREE DOZEN+ contributors and they're making great progress. We should be able to issue the last of the contracts once those final pieces arrive, but we're on track to publish this title later this year.

Douglas Clegg is signing the signature sheets for Night Cage right now, and all of the other material is ready for the printer. You can view the designed cover artwork, which we just received this week, on the product page in our online store. We're all very excited about this book, which will be printed exclusively as members of the Book Club. But don't forget that we have a handful of Lettered Editions left for order and this is the only signed edition that will ever be available for sale!

On a related note, Edward Lee has notified us that The Innswich Horror is coming along quite well -- it's "kicking ass", in his words -- but the manuscript is turning into a longer book than he expected! The more Lee, the better, if you ask us!

We'll have more updates soon! Thanks for your continuing support!

Interview with Brent Hayward by Stephen Studach just posted!

'Writing, Gunpowder, Dinosaurs and Nematodes'
Stephen Studach discusses the 'FILARIA' experience
With its author BRENT HAYWARD.

FilariaBorn in England and raised in Canada Brent Hayward states that he was always into S.F. and writing, as well as the boyish pursuits of model planes, dinosaurs and gunpowder. He cites the simultaneous discoveries of Samuel R.Delany and Punk Rock at seventeen as a major turning point in his life. His first published novel Filaria has been chosen as the flagship work for the fledgling book makers ChiZine Publications. He has a wife and two children. Trained as an aerospace draftsman, he manages a small drafting office for a Canadian company. Stephen Studach asked some questions in Australia and Brent Hayward answered them from his home which is presently in Rzeszow, Poland.

SS: Firstly, can you give us some details about Brent Hayward; who he is, why he is, maybe some signposts on the path that has led you to this point in your journey?

BH: He is a guy who likes details. He can get lost in them, in fact. He's also a guy who doesn't really like to talk about himself in the third person, so he will now switch... I always need to have a project on the go, and the act of writing is meticulous, which appeals to me and scratches an itch. Though I'm generally happy, I write darker stuff and maybe I channel my inner darkness that way. I was never very social, or at least not very good at being social, so I've always been an avid reader. And I've always wanted to create something that could touch others the way that influential works have touched me. I think that's why we create in the first place, us writers. Us humans. That, and an attempt to remain relatively sane. People tell me my stuff is weird, too. I don't know. I write stories that I would like to read. I guess I like weird stuff.

SS: Your novel seems to be constantly pressing against the soft walls of genre as well as trying to get its grubby-nailed fingers into the cracks of style, and to heck with the spidery, wormy things that live in those stylistic crannies. Now I know you don't particularly want to label your work. I tend to agree; naming candidates for genres and sticking pre-set tags on books seems an instinctive, lazy act, the human mind's need for marked definition. So, please describe your novel Filaria. What were your primary intentions with the story itself?

The Woods Are DarkA quick logistical note. As we mention at the bottom of every newsletter, these emails are always sent from a "send only" account so we cannot check it for incoming mail. Any replies to the news@ address will not reach our staff. You can always email us at: info@cemeterydance.com

Onto the news: our warehouse staff is busy shipping Kill Whitey by Brian Keene and Serpent Girl by Ray Garton, and the orders are still pouring in! Don't wait to order if you're interested in any of our new titles because some of the signed editions aren't going to last long! Also, the stunning Alan Clark cover artwork for The Woods Are Dark (The Original, Uncut Version) by Richard Laymon has arrived and you can see a scan on the product page.

And finally, we want to send a big congrats out to Ray Garton, whose controversial novella Graven Image has been optioned for film. Here's the announcement we received the other day: "Horror Grand Master Ray Garton's GRAVEN IMAGE, a short story in which the main character buys an antique object that becomes the source of strange and malevolent events, optioned to producer-screenwriter Richard Finney...."

As you might remember, Graven Image was a "not for sale" promotional Limited Edition that was printed exclusively for the customers who qualified for a copy during a very short window of time. Long out of print, copies now sell for hundreds of dollars on the second-hand market, and this news is only going to help increase their value further!

Congrats again to Ray! We're looking forward to hearing more about the project!

Serpent Girl
by Ray Garton

Serpent GirlSteven Benedetti's work has him driving the lonely highways at night, as it so often does. But tonight he passes a carnival and decides to stop for a break. At the carnival, Benedetti meets the Serpent Girl, a woman who stirs him like no other woman has, a woman who, like Benedetti, has a secret. They hit the night roads together and begin a journey that will change Benedetti forever....

Reviews & Praise for Serpent Girl:
"This intense tale of real-life horror may remind some readers of Dostroyevski's Crime and Punishment... Garton speeds the violent, X-rated action to its bleak, foreordained climax."
— Publishers Weekly

Excerpt from the story:
A garish tent at the rear of the carnival grounds caught my eye. Achubby, snaggle-toothed barker stood out front and talked into a bullhorn. Behind him, the front of the tent was colorfully painted. A girl wrapped in snakes stood on one side, with lots of writing on the other:

SEE THE SERPENT GIRL!
WATCH HER COMMUNE WITH THE SNAKES!
SEE HER TAME THE SERPENT
THAT ONCE TEMPTED MAN!

The barker shouted through the bullhorn: “She speaks with them, ladies and gentlemen! She has a psychic connection to these ancient serpents! She has stunned the audiences of Europe, and now she's here to perform for you! Come see the Serpent Girl! Another show coming up, you don't wanna miss it! The Serpent Girl, ladies and gentlemen.”

I went to the booth and bought a ticket, then went through the tent's entrance. About twenty folding chairs were set up in two columns. A few men were already seated. Up front was an empty stage. There were speakers in the four corners of the tent. I went to the front row and sat on the aisle.

A few minutes later, after a couple more men had come in, the lights in the tent went low. A man's voice came over the speakers: “Now, direct from the capitals of Europe to perform for you here tonight—Elise, the Serpent Girl!”

Music came up and a spotlight lit the center of the stage. She stepped into the light and began to dance in a tiny black, bejeweled bikini. In her arms, she held an enormous snake, probably a boa constrictor. She stroked the snake as she undulated, then put it over her head and across her shoulders. The snake slowly began to coil around her as she danced.

Some of the men in the tent applauded. One of them shouted, “Take it off, honey!”

She wasn't a terribly good dancer. By the time she held two snakes, she'd gone through all her moves and was just repeating herself. But she was beautiful, and I couldn't take my eyes off her...

The Woods Are Dark (The Original, Uncut Version)
Richard Laymon's Long Lost Second Novel As You've NEVER Read It Before!

The Woods Are DarkThe Woods Are Dark (The Original, Uncut Version)
by Richard Laymon

Featuring a special introduction by Kelly Laymon explaining the history of the manuscript, how this version came to exist, and why this edition is more than just 50 pages of deleted scenes added back in, but instead a totally different novel you've never read before!

About the Novel:
Neala and her friend Sherri only wanted to do a little backpacking through the woods. Little did they know they would soon be shackled to a dead tree, waiting for Them to arrive. The Dills family thought the small motor lodge in the quiet town of Barlow seemed quaint and harmless enough. Until they, too, found themselves shackled to trees in the middle of the night, while They approached, hungry for human flesh....

When this classic novel was first published in 1981, it was heavily cut, with nearly fifty pages removed. What remained was rewritten by both Laymon and a Warner Books line editor. Now, for the first time ever, the missing text has been completely restored—along with Laymon's original words and vision—and the novel can finally be read the way it was intended.

An excerpt from Kelly Laymon's special introduction to this edition:
"The version you're about to read was the one that was first submitted to Warner Books... Those of you who have read the Warner edition will notice that the two books are very different after, say, Chapter 8 or so. How did I do it? Especially since my father said it couldn't be done? I'm not sure. It was all there. But the pieces weren't in the same place. There were boxes of thirty year old manuscripts and I had played with the various drafts many times over the last six or seven years. I always believed it could be done. I sure had false starts though. I had to get to know each draft of the manuscript. Not by the content of the pages, but by the pages themselves. I evaluated them based on page numbering styles and other forms of continuity. I didn't want to read any draft until I had settled on what I believed was the true manuscript...."

Old Flames by Jack Ketchum
A Brand New Original Novella!
Signed Limited Edition!

"Ketchum has become a kind of hero to those of us who write tales of terror and suspense. He is, quite simply, one of the best in the business."
—Stephen King

Old Flames Old Flames
by Jack Ketchum

Featuring a special afterword by the author explaining the origins of the story!

When her lover betrays her and dumps her coldly, Dora's mind begins to crack. She tracks down her old high school love to recapture what she might have had. He's married with a family now, but Dora isn't about to let that stop her....

Excerpt from the story:
So here I am again, she thought. This is far too familiar.

There was pain of course but she embraced the pain as she always did. He was big and she was not, so she could count on pain with him. Tears and sweat were pretty much the same thing anyway she thought. She was opposed to neither.

But there was yearning. That old unwanted acquaintance.

She wanted—maybe even needed this time—to see his face. A face could speak what the body didn't. His body told her he was close to coming. As was she. But that was all it told her. A glance over her shoulder was insufficient. Especially in the dark. And Owen insisted on his bedroom dark the way he insisted on taking her from behind.

But here in this room on this bed while he filled her he was emptying her too. She could feel a winding down. She fought that. Pushed back hard into his tight flat belly as though the slap of impact flesh against flesh and his own sounds, his grunts and moans and harsh breathing could meld into an invisible wind that might whirl around and enter her again through her open mouth and ears and eyes.

She wanted to be filled. Instead she relinquished wanting.

It was all she could do.

* Masks by Ray Bradbury: The LONG LOST Second Novel!
* Bev Vincent Reviews Stephen King's New Novella: A Very Tight Place
* Surprise Addition to Stephen King's New Collection! "The Cat From Hell"

Hi Folks!

The BIG Jack Ketchum/Richard Laymon/Ray Garton announcement is almost here! We're just waiting on one last detail from one of the contributors and a final piece of cover artwork and then we'll be ready to announce these three great new books.

In the meantime, we're pleased to announce that the trade hardcover and signed Limited Editions of Kill Whitey by Brian Keene have arrived at our warehouse and we'll have them all ready to ship out the door next week! As you probably remember, the Limited Edition sold out very quickly, but there's still the trade hardcover edition available, so if you've never read a Brian Keene novel before, this is a great place to start. Read on for details!

Kill Whitey
by Brian Keene

From bestselling author Brian Keene comes another novel of dark crime and the supernatural, in the tradition of Terminal...

Larry Gibson longed for something different from his days as a dock worker and his lonely nights spent drinking with his friends.

When Larry meets Sondra Belov, a beautiful exotic dancer, he finally gets some excitement in his life — too much excitement.

Now, Larry's friends are dying and he's on the run from the cops, the Russian mob, and a seemingly invincible madman.

And if Larry wants to live another day, he'll have to figure out a way to kill Whitey...

KILL WHITEY... how can you kill someone who cannot die?

Praise for Kill Whitey:
"This one is a strange mix of gangster story, horror story and romance. Yeah, that's what I said. It works though and works very well... I was hooked by page five, I was captivated by page fifty and completely blown away by the end of the book. I have liked every Keene novel I have read, but this one, this one my friends elevates Brian to another level. I have always known that he was something special, someone to watch, but there is no way I could have expected this. I realize that it still very early in the year of 2008 but I am betting that Kill Whitey will become one of if not THE genre novel of the year. It is really that good... Kill Whitey. Remember that title, folks are going to be talking about it."

Masks by Ray Bradbury
The LONG LOST Second Novel!

Masks
by Ray Bradbury

Set to be published Fall 2008 by Gauntlet.

In the late-1940s, Bradbury applied for a Guggenheim grant and submitted an early version of MASKS. While he didn't get the grant, Bradbury continued to tinker with it until 1952 or 1953. Editor Donn Albright has assembled those parts into a cohesive story so the reader can compare Bradbury's first draft with later thoughts on the proposed novel. There will be no other edition of MASKS. Besides the content of the novel, this special Limited Edition will also contain 6 never-before-published stories Bradbury wrote during this period, all chosen by Donn Albright and Ray Bradbury. These stories are:

"Walker in the Night"
"The Drothldo"
"The Dancing Magician" (aka "Gallagher the Great")
"In the Eye of the Beholder"
"The Face of Natalie"
"They Never Got Mad"

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Ray Bradbury's fans and collectors! Don't miss out!

Bev Vincent Reviews Stephen King's New Novella:
A Very Tight Place

"A Very Tight Place" by Stephen King
a new novella to be published in McSweeney's #27

Review by Bev Vincent

Robert Frost once wrote, "Good fences make good neighbors." Decent advice, unless the fence in question happens to be electrified. An electric fence is the proverbial straw that breaks the already fractured friendship between Curtis Johnson and Tim Grunwald (Curtis's new nickname for his neighbor is often heard at the end of a Bruce Willis cry that begins "Yippie-ki-yay").

Curtis, the protagonist of King's new 73-page novella "A Very Tight Place" (McSweeney's #27), made his millions on the stock market. He's a moderately athletic fifty-something gay man who wants to acquire a vacant lot on Turtle Island to ensure that his view of the Gulf isn't despoiled by one of Grunwald's ugly, sprawling condo projects. Grunwald's health and finances have both been failing lately, which gives Curtis perverse delight.

Since his classic story "Born of Man and Woman" appeared in the Summer 1950 issue of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, Richard Matheson has been one of the world's most acclaimed and influential fantasists. He is the award-winning author and screenwriter responsible for such diverse and unforgettable works as I Am Legend, The Shrinking Man, A Stir of Echoes, The Beardless Warriors, Hell House, Duel, The Night Stalker, Trilogy of Terror, What Dreams May Come, Somewhere In Time, Journal of the Gun Years, four of Roger Corman's Edgar Allan Poe films, and sixteen episodes of the original Twilight Zone.

The Richard Matheson Companion is a unique collection of writing by and about this prolific, multitalented storyteller, edited by Matheson experts Stanley Wiater and Matthew R. Bradley. They have assembled the work of more than two dozen contributors—much of it published for the first time—that both celebrates and sheds new light on Matheson's extraordinary career. It contains:

* Detailed discussions of Matheson's work by Harlan Ellison, Ed Gorman, Dean Koontz, and David Morrell.

* Appreciations by those who have been influenced or inspired by Matheson over the years, such as Dennis Etchison, Jack Ketchum, Joe R. Lansdale, Brian Lumley, producer Stephen Simon, F. Paul Wilson, and Gahan Wilson.

* Recollections by George Clayton Johnson and William F. Nolan, Matheson's fellow members of the famed Southern California School of Writers (aka the California Sorcerers or simply "The Group"), about their personal and professional relationships.

* Extensive and revealing interviews in which Matheson recounts his career.

* Heartfelt tributes from Matheson's wife, Ruth, and their children Bettina, Richard Christian, Chris, and Alison, three of whom are also successful writers.

* Essays by two of Matheson's literary editors and artist Harry O. Morris, who has illustrated thirteen of his books, on working with a living legend.

* Photos of Matheson throughout his life and career, as well as reproductions of magazine and book covers and rare correspondence.

* The most complete documentation of Matheson's work ever compiled, with comprehensive and annotated lists of his books, stories, nonfiction, films, television episodes, published and unproduced scripts, adaptations, awards, and much more.

* Special Bonus! The Years Stood Still, a never-before-seen novel Matheson wrote at the age of fourteen, with an introduction by Richard Christian Matheson.

Bev Vincent Visits With THE THREE KINGS (Stephen, Tabitha, and Owen) On Our NEW BLOG!

The Three Kings
by Bev Vincent

"Stephen, Tabitha and Owen King read from their works at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation in Washington D.C. on April 4, 2008 as part of the PEN/Faulkner reading series. The event was originally scheduled to be held at the Folger Shakespeare Library, but due to demand it was moved to the larger venue across the street. I heard that over 500 tickets were sold.Earlier in the day, the three authors met with students from several area high schools at the Library of Congress as part of the PEN/Faulkner Writers in Schools program.

Eager fans started gathering on the church steps early in the afternoon. The sign near the sidewalk announced "GOD RESCUES OUR LIVES FROM DEATH." The steps grew crowded and the line extended down the sidewalk by the time the Will Call doors opened at 7 pm. Attendees were of all ages. Some were dressed in horror-themed t-shirts and a couple of guys looked like they just got off their motorbikes. People who had never met before but knew each other by screen names from message boards sought each other out. Precious books were tucked under arms or clutched to chests..."

Sneak Peek
A First Look At Unannounced Cemetery Dance Projects

Hi Folks!

As you know, with a few exceptions, we're no longer announcing books until we have the manuscript in hand from the author or editor—and usually not until we have the book ready for the printer. This allows our customers to order a book and find it in their mailbox within a couple of months, which has proven to be popular with most of our collectors.

That said, we often get pressure from the authors or their agents (and even fans of these authors!) to announce books earlier than we would like so sometimes an early announcement cannot be helped. So, in an effort to please both our customers and our authors, we're debuting a brand new feature in the Free Reads section of this website that will discuss upcoming unannounced books. These books will not be officially available for sale and details may change before the official announcement, but this way we can let you know a little bit about the dozens of projects we've been secretly working on for the last year while they're making their way through production.

Click here to visit our Sneak Peeks page and read our first post about Barfodder: Poetry Written in Dark Bars & Questionable Cafes by Rain Graves!

March 26, 2008: We're going to announce three new books later this week, but we wanted to send you these two important updates in the meantime!

Cemetery Dance on MySpace

As some of you already noticed, we've started putting together a MySpace page for Cemetery Dance. You can find it here:

http://www.myspace.com/cemeterydancepublications

Eventually we'll be using the blog to post some exclusive interviews, essays, updates, and maybe even an original short story or two!

Production Updates!
Plus New Books To Be Announced Next Week!

We'll be announcing some really exciting new Limited Editions from a few of our favorite authors next week, so be sure to keep watching this page because a couple of the signed editions probably won't last very long at all!

In the meantime, we have big news for William Peter Blatty fans! His final manuscript for Elsewhere is now with our copyeditor and we're working with one of our favorite artists on special interior illustrations. We'll have some big updates on this project soon, but it'll be ready to go to press in no time and this one will be published later this year!

Our printer reported this week that Stephen King: A Primary Bibliography will be shipping to us very soon, and Stephen King: The Non-Fiction and The Dark Tower Concordance are moving smoothly through production. As soon as we have the sample books for those two titles, we'll send them right off to our slipcase manufacturer so he can begin work on the slipcases!

Finally, we've received even more praise for Midnight Premiere, edited by Tom Piccirilli:
"Writer/editor Tom Piccirilli tackles a tough theme for this anthology: horror movies.  Why?  Because David Schow covered this theme with his benchmark anthology, SILVER SCREAM, almost twenty years ago.  So, how does Midnight Premiere stack up?  It's a worthy successor and grand anthology that carves its own bloody path across this particular horror territory, updating and in many was surpassing its esteemed predecessor... This is an utterly entertaining anthology that will delight fans of horror fiction and film equally.  Bravo!"
— Count Gore De Vol's Tomb of Dark Delights

We'll have even more updates soon, so keep watching the CD Insider newsletter and our Breaking News page!

March 16, 2008: You can now read a classic Tom Monteleone MAFIA column in our Free Reads section:

March 14, 2008:

Quick Production Update:
The Century's Best Horror Fiction, Scratch, Kill Whitey, Slivers of Bone

ScratchWe have a lot of great news coming over the next six weeks, but we wanted to send you this mini-production update in the meantime:

The Century's Best Horror Fiction edited by John Pelan
Volume One came in at 706 pages and Volume Two is 868 pages. Proofreading continues, but with over 700,000 words, it's going to be a while longer until this one is ready for the printer. Many of the stories had to be typeset from original materials so they now have to be cross-checked against those originals. It's a slow process, but it'll be worth the effort. These two volumes are going to each be among the largest books we've ever published.

Scratch by Brian Keene
Russell Dickerson is hard at work on the artwork for this great new addition to the Signature Series, which we expect to publish later this year. Russ has turned in the cover artwork, and once again Gail Cross has done an excellent job on the design. You can see a sneak peek to the right!

Kill Whitey by Brian Keene
This title is right on schedule at the printer for the expected April publication date, and the positive reviews are just pouring in:

— Dave Dreher, House of Horrors

Slivers of BoneSlivers of Bone by Ray Garton
This title has been sent to the printer, and we will post an expected publication date as soon as we have it. Here is the latest rave review for Garton's collection:

"From a tale of vengeance gone awry in Middle America ("The Guy Down the Street") to a frightening story of one man's solution to the problems in his world ("Myiasis"), the 13 stories collected here demonstrate Garton's skill at tales of horror in low and high places. The author's versatile style is by turns gory and visceral or subtle and insinuative. Including two new novellas as well as hard-to-find reprints...."
— Library Journal

We'll have a lot more updates and production news coming soon. Thanks again for your continuing support!
