Blockade BillyQ: I saw someone say this is more like a "Gift Edition" due to the set print run. What does that mean?

A: In a way, they're correct because we did only printing a set number. Some of the key features that made our edition different than the Stephen King books you usually see in stores were:

* a very limited and collectible print run of just 10,000 copies — a tiny fraction of what a New York publisher normally prints for a new release

* heavily illustrated with interior artwork that will not be appearing in any other trade edition

* the only trade hardcover edition to be protected by a full-color dust jacket — the Scribner edition was "paper on boards" which is where the cover is printed right on the book. In other words, there was no dustjacket on the Scribner edition!

* shrinkwrapped to protect your book if you're keeping it as a collector's item

* included the Limited Edition William "Blockade Billy" Blakely baseball card, which was not included with any other trade edition

* beautifully designed with both the collector and general reader in mind

* published almost six weeks before any other print edition in the world

Q: How can I order additional baseball cards?

A: We're sorry, but there were only enough baseball cards to ship with Blockade Billy books.

Q: Can Mr. King sign my book for me?

A: Unfortunately, not at this time, but Lonely Road Books, the publisher of Dark Forces: The 25th Anniversary Special Edition and Riding the Bullet: The Deluxe Special Edition, published a deluxe signed edition of Blockade Billy. See the Lonely Road Books website for more information.

Q: What makes your edition of Blockade Billy collectible?

A: This was the WORLD'S FIRST PRINTING of a brand new book by Stephen King, a must-have for any King collection, and we printed a tiny fraction of the number of copies a big New York publisher would be printing.

Q: Is that a real baseball card?

A: Yes! This card was designed to mimic the era it came from and was professional printed by one of the leading baseball card printing companies in America. To say more would give away too much about the story, though!

Q: Will this novella be included in King's upcoming collection, Full Dark, No Stars?

A: Nope, it will not! At this time there are no plans to include Blockade Billy in any Stephen King collection.

Q: Has Cemetery Dance published a book by Stephen King before?

A: From A Buick 8 Yes! In the fall of 2002 we published Stephen King's From A Buick 8 in three deluxe editions. The Lettered Edition sold out within minutes of being announced, the Limited Edition sold out within 24 hours of the announcement, and the Gift Edition sold out before publication. You can see photos of those editions and scans of the book's artwork (painted by Bernie Wrightson) on our From A Buick 8 artwork page.

In December of 2006, we published a deluxe Limited Edition of The Secretary of Dreams (Volume One), Stephen King's first ever unabridged graphic short story collection. Featuring a half-dozen classic tales of terror personally selected by The Secretary of DreamsKing, this collection presented his stories for the first time in the tradition of the pulp horror comics. Spanning close to 280 oversized pages, the hundreds of illustrations and full comic panels from acclaimed Maine artist Glenn Chadbourne transformed The Secretary of Dreams into a work of art. Not one word from King's stories was left out — instead they were brought to life by hundreds of pen and ink drawings by Chadbourne. Stories featured in this volume were: "Home Delivery," "Jerusalem's Lot," "The Reach," "The Road Virus Heads North," "Rainy Season," and "Uncle Otto's Truck." Samples of the artwork are still available online, but the book is Out of Print.

In October 2010, we published The Secretary of Dreams (Volume Two). This second venture into the world of Stephen King's stories contained even more artwork and detailed illustrations that could only have come from the inspired hands of artist Glenn Chadbourne. An original Cemetery Dance Publications publishing event, this deluxe oversized hardcover edition was the World's First Edition and there are no other editions planned at this time. Samples of the artwork are available online and the book is still available for order at this time.

We have also published many books about Stephen King's work, along with many anthologies and issues of Cemetery Dance magazine that include his short fiction. Visit our Stephen King section for more information on these titles (although many are Out of Print collectors' items).
