About This Title:

Sinister Purposes
by Gary Raisor

cover artwork by Keith Minnion

In the secluded, Kudzu-covered town of Eden, Georgia, people are dying in droves. Burnings, decapitations, crucifixions, impalings, and the occasional premature burial. The kids whisper about a mysterious, supernatural figure who walks the railroad tracks outside of town, a figure known simply as "The White Man".

Everyone has a theory, but no one can stop the killing. No one can stop the madness from spreading like some malignant disease.

Only one man, Father Aron, knows what's going on. He vows to cure the evil. The only problem with Father Aron: the cure may be worse than the disease.

A Note From The Publisher:
This is a hefty new collection of connected stories that form a unified, terrifying tale from Gary Raisor, the author of Less Than Human. This one is something special, folks! The cover is by the fantastic Keith Minnion, and there are a half dozen truly disturbing interior illustrations done by up and coming Kariann Childs. This is Gary's fourth book and it is, by far, his most intense.

Reviews & Praise:
"Those with a taste for the gruesome (flies and eyeballs are common motifs) will be rewarded."—Publishers Weekly

"Raisor writes about ecclesiastical corruption with a vigor that, in centuries past, would have assured him of a lingering and messy demise in some public square."—Locus

"Be sure to get your hands on a copy of Sinister Purposes by Gary Raisor, an author who fully understands what it takes to keep the horror genre alive and kicking...and slashing…and crushing…and…"—Horror World

Sinister Purposes 11/09/2006 - by james ellis from atlanta, GA US
For all those interested I have read several chapters of this book several times over. The imagery had me wondering if I was actually reading everything correctly. Really, it was like an acid trip gone horribly wrong, wadded up, and thrown down into a dirty, abysmal, abstract version of a Chinese hell. Few things really creep me out and fewer things scare me, but if I had to go through the reality-based situations these characters went through, I would have put a shotgun into my mouth and kissed the sky. Much of what I read would make the average horror reader put down the book and cuddle up with the fluffy softness of a downy Steven King novel. I definitely recommend this book to be added to any truly hard-core personal library, or any fan of Gary raisor's works.
Sleep Deprived... 06/17/2006 - by the DARK Stranger from Midgard
Finished this a day after receiving it (COULD NOT put it down!).. Haven't been sleeping well since.
I had not heard of the author before but a friend at Little Coffeeshop told me to check him out. Gotta say it was amazing. I was looking around the web and saw where Mr. Raisor is going to be in my hometown of Atlanta at the big Dragon convention and I can't wait to meet him. But you guys should check this one out if you really like the spooky weird stuff. If you p-whipped - don't do it - you can't handle it!
