Hart can be found online either doodling on instagram <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/exsanguine_hart\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@exsanguine_hart<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or lurking on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exsanguinehart.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">exsanguinehart.com<\/a>. Their newest collection of poems\u00a0 is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Crows of After<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Crows of After<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a dark poetry collection, and Hart really attempts to expand that horror with some very clever narratives and vibrant images. Take, for example, these lines from the poem \u201cSkin\u201d:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The diners learn to match the moths.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Their lightweight limbs make sounds<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">like hollow drums against the floor. They spread<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">their dirty wings across the walls, in sync with me.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The rolling iambs of these lines as well as the tight sound &#8212; check out the flow of laterals in \u201clearn\u2026lightweight limbs\u2026hollow\u2026floor\u201d and how they\u2019re carefully spread across the three lines &#8212; really makes for a luscious read.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One cannot discuss <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Crows of After<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> without discussing the art and the hybrid pieces in this collection. There are many examples, but the piece on page six with the elongated figure against a swampy, murky background and the poem superimposed over a digital shape. The whole tone of the piece is dark and murky, and it\u2019s pieces like this that make <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Crows of After<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a standout collection.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overall, Exsanguine Hart has created a very strong collection with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Crows of After<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. When these poems are strongest, Hart\u2019s imagery and lyricism soar and propel horror poetry to new avenues and areas. The art further amplifies the potency of these poems.
