CEMETERY DANCE: How did you get involved with The Bride of Rocky Horror?

SOO LEE: The opportunity kind of just fell onto my lap and I immediately said yes!

What was the inspiration for your cover?

The cover was based on layouts from the interior artist and I just put my spin on it. I wanted the cover to be in-your-face with the characters and colors, and show how surreal the universe feels. I want it to pop when you pick it up!

What can you tell us about Rocky Horror’s legacy?

It’s something I grew up watching as a kid, with my mom of all people! So I’ve always been a big fan. It’s just such an iconic story and characters where you just immediately fall in love with that world. I think it also inspired so many people to embrace themselves and show how fun it can be to be weird and what others may consider strange. Not to mention Frank-N-Furter is absolutely fabulous. I always thought that was one of the coolest characters I’ve ever seen in my life as a kid and still true today!

Have horror comics been an influence on your work?

It’s always been in the background for me, especially with manga growing up. I think it can be such a beautiful medium with horror because it makes you disgusted and scared but so interesting you just can’t help but stare at the page and really take it in. That’s what I try to do, I want my work to be beautiful in the way horror is viewed and something you’re attracted and lured to.

Where can people learn more about you and your work?

You can find me on most social media platforms, especially Instagram at “sooleedraws” and my website that I tend to neglect at sooleedraws.com.
